Prayer to Consecrate Yourself to God

Prayer To Consecrate Yourself To God

Jesus paid an unfathomable price for you when he died on the cross. The Son of God must have found this task challenging because he prayed to his father saying, “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me [1]Luke 22:42 NLT.” But Jesus’ life purpose was to do the Father’s will [2]John 5:30. So he said to his father, “Yet I want your will to be done, not mine [3]Luke 22:42 NLT.”

Do you ever have that conversation with your heavenly father? My God, is that really what you want me to do? Is there another option? If not, then I want to follow your wishes, not mine.

Consecrating yourself to God is giving yourself to Him as a living sacrifice. Jesus purchased you as a gift for the father. By consecrating yourself to God, you are thanking Jesus for his supreme sacrifice.

When you present yourself to the Lord in consecration, you are giving him the freedom to do whatever He wants in and through you. This is your service to the Lord. The apostle Paul wrote, “I exhort you therefore, brothers, through the compassions of God to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable service [4]Romans 12:1.”

Let God’s deep love for you motivate you to present yourself to Him.

This prayer is a model I use to consecrate myself daily to the Lord.

This prayer was inspired by a consecration prayer in the book, “Moving Mountains: Praying with Passion, Confidence, and Authority,” by John Eldridge.
Keith Bollig

Lord Jesus, I offer myself to you now as a loving vessel to join you in prayer and to glorify the Father with you. I am eager to partner with you in evangelism, discipleship, providing for others, and anything else that will reflect the character of God to those I come in contact with today.

I consecrate myself to you alone Jesus. I dedicate my body, soul, and spirit; my heart, mind, and will. I give you the talents you gave me. Use them to do the father’s will. I’m ready to hear from you and respond. I’m ready to pray for those who need prayer. Direct me to those who need my prayers. Lord, I bring my body fully under your rule and under your dominion. My body belongs to you. I consecrate it to you fully, totally, and completely right now.

Cleanse me with your blood, Lord; restore me and renew me spiritually and physically. If I am abusing any part of my body or soul, reveal it to me. Then, I can work with the Holy Spirit to bring me back into alignment with you and the Father.

I want to be a healthy vessel that you can use for as long as I live. Therefore, I renounce all misuses of my body, and I renounce all forms of sin I commit through my body or to my body. I renounce poor eating habits and lack of exercise [or whatever sins that you struggle to give up — drug abuse, overeating, binging and purging, anger, rage, etc.].

By the blood of your cross, Lord Jesus, I cancel any claim the enemy has made against me. Through your power Lord Jesus, I cancel every access or dominion the enemy has against my body, mind, heart, and soul. As a temple of the living God, I rededicate my body as a vessel for his holy life.

Holy Spirit, fill me with your renewed presence today. Help me live in union with Jesus and the Father. Grant me the power of Jesus to guide my day with his love, peace, joy, and the power of the Holy Trinity. Through Christ Jesus, Amen.

Prayer for Specific Request

Prayer for Specific Request

This prayer was inspired by the scriptures from Psalm 17, 18, 19, and 20. Some parts were inspired by the song “Take All of Me,” by Chris Tomlin.

Lord, my God. You are so beautiful to me. I don’t have the words to describe your beauty. So, I look to the heavens that declare Your glory, the skies that proclaim the work of Your hands1, and the example of our Lord Jesus to get a glimpse of You. I love you, LORD. You are my strength, my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer.  I take refuge2 in you.

Hear me, LORD and listen to my cry. My plea seems just. It does not rise from deceitful lips. It does not come from selfish desires3. My desire is to glorify you with every breath I take and every move I make.

You pulled me out of the rubble of my old life and washed me clean. You set me apart for Your glory.

Remember the sacrifices and gifts I offer back to you in thanksgiving that you chose me to be a recipient of your grace by faith.

If it pleases You, may I be granted this desire of my heart? [Declare your desire with specifics]. But if it is not the path you have chosen for me, change my heart, not Your plan.  Align it to Yours and make all my plans succeed4. Then, I will shout for joy and declare victory in Your name5.

Lord, You give victory to Your anointed. You answer us from Your heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of Your right hand6. You give us supernatural power to rise up and stand firm so that we can declare victory in Your name.

Take my life lord. Let my life be consecrated to You.

Take every moment of my day and use them all in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands and let them move in ways that reflect the depth of Your love.

Take my voice and use my words as expressions of love from You my King.

Take my wealth, my intellect, and all I have and use it to bless others as you choose.

Let all of me glorify You in Jesus’ name amen.

Morning Prayer

Morning Prayer

Seek First His Righteousness

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33).”

God longs for you to spend time with Him. He has created a whole world for you. He created a plan for your life even before you were conceived. He would like to share that plan with you so you don’t have to roam aimlessly through life. But, He won’t force His plan on you. You have to come to Him and ask Him to reveal it.

In the morning, spend time with God by studying his Word, listening to your favorite teacher or worshiping God through music. Then, having a heartfelt conversation with your creator through prayer.

Here are some sample prayers and commentaries to help you start your day.

This morning prayer was inspired by the scriptures from Isaiah 26 and Psalm 19.

Lord, my soul yearns for you in the night. In the morning my spirit longs to hear your voice1. You said You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast on you because they trust in you2. I trust you to orchestrate every part of my life for your glory. I trust you will develop and protect my relationships with my spouse, my family, and my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus. I trust you will guide the interactions I have with people at work and in the streets so I reflect your love and so I am seen as salt and light to the world. I feel at peace because I trust in you forever.

You are my Rockin which I stand firm and face every challenge. You are the Upright One4 for whom I attribute all my victories.

Lord, it’s morning and I want to express how I feel about you and how majestic you are but there are no words to describe your greatness. I echo the sentiment of the heavens that declare your glory, the skies that proclaim the work of your hands5. The daytime speaks of your goodness, the night of your infinite wisdom. They use no words and no sound can be heard from them. Yet their message of your greatness goes out to the ends of the universe6.

The sun rises on one end of the earth and follows a path designed by you to the other end of the earth. Nothing under the sun is deprived of it’s warmth7. In the same way, no one in all of creation is deprived of your infinite love.

Lord, you created an amazing and complex world for us to enjoy. You did not leave us without instructions on how to use it. You gave us your laws which are perfect. They refresh my soul. When I follow them, they give joy to my heart and light to my eyes8. Your laws do not bind me, they illuminate my path. They warn me when danger is close. They guide me through my day and point me toward success and your promised rewards.

So, help me put to death what is earthly in me: sexual immorality, impurity, pride, ungodly passion, evil desire, covetousness, anger, wrath, malice, slander, obscene talk, and every dishonest thought. I put off the old self when I gave my heart to you. My new self is being renewed in knowledge and has a long way to go to fully reflect your image9.

Help me discern when I fall short of the intent of your laws. Keep me today Lord from willful sin. Forgive me when I sin without knowing, when I’ve done good with selfish intentions, failed to serve you with my whole heart, or neglected to do what should have been done10.

Help me to learn more and more every day how to love you, Lord, with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my strength, and with all my mind. Show me new ways to love others as I love myself11.

May these words I pray this morning and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you my Lord, my Rock, and my Redeemer12.
